HARRISONBURG, VA - George Washington women's tennis fell at James Madison by a score of 4-3 Friday afternoon. The loss dropped the Colonials record to 4-5 overall on the season. They are 0-1 in the Atlantic 10 Conference.

JMU opened the match by taking two of the three doubles' matches to earn the competition's first point. Kendall Swenson (Shaker Heights, OH/Laurel) and Verena Knoedler (Gaildorf, Germany/Indian Spring, AL) teamed up to earn the lone GW doubles win.

In singles play, Swenson, playing from the No. 1 spot, defeated Mary Napier, 6-2, 6-2. The junior is now 13-3 overall this season. The other two GW wins came from No. 4 Tracy Stecko (Lake Forest, IL/Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart) and the fifth-seeded Knoedler.

George Washington will resume its A-10 Conference schedule this weekend when women's tennis travels to Philadelphia, PA, for two matches at Temple University. On Friday, at 1:00 p.m., the Colonials will face-off against the Musketeers of Xavier. GW will play the Temple Owls on Sunday, April 1, at 1:00 p.m.
