Women's Tennis Splits First Two of Three Match Road Trip

March 28, 2003

WASHINGTON, DC - The GW Women's Tennis team split the first two matches on their three-match road swing. Xavier got the better of GW, 7-0 (details to come), on Thursday, March 27 in Cincinnati, OH, but the Colonials bounced back to score a 5-2 victory over Duquesne in Pittsurgh, PA on Friday, March 28.

In the match against Duquesne, GW got doubles victories from the teams of junior Nazli Gencsoy (Istanbul, Turkey/Lyree de Galatasaray) and sophomore Sevla Gonca (Ankara, Turkey/Bilkent) and sophomore Natasha Bode (Paradise Valley, AZ/Xavier Prep) and freshman Estee Bartell (San Diego, CA/Torrey Pines). The members of the doubles teams also were victorious in singles matches with Genscoy winning at number two, Gonca winning at number three, Bode at number four and Bartell at number six.

The team's record is now 4-5 and they will look to even it up when they take on Princeton on Saturday, March 29 at 1:00 p.m.
