Women's Tennis Fall to Howard, 5-2

WASHINGTON - The George Washington women's tennis team fell to 7-7 on the season when they were defeated 5-2 by Howard on Sunday. The Colonials took the doubles point when No.1 duo Jacqueline Corba and Sasha Gluck won 8-5 and No. 3 pair Mimi Hamling and Jennifer Hirsh won 9-7. But Meg Tyner was the only Colonial to win her singles match against Howard. Tyner battled to win the first set 7-5 and the second 6-4, at No. 5 singles. Freshman Sarah Smith made her season debut at No. 6 singles for the Colonials, falling 6-3, 6-2. The Colonials return home to host Atlantic 10 opponent Temple on Saturday, April 3, at the Mount Vernon Tennis Facility at 2 p.m., as the women's tennis team try to raise money for the GW Thinks Pink Initiative to raise awareness for breast cancer.
