PITTSBURGH, PA - Despite riding a two-match winning streak, the George Washington women's tennis team dropped a pair of A-10 conference contests against Xavier, 5-2, and Duquesne, 4-3, this past weekend, April 1-2, at Club 4 Life in Monroeville, PA. Junior Mara Frisch (Tucson, AZ) won both her matches at No. 4 singles to highlight play for the Colonials.
On Saturday against Xavier, Swenson recorded her fourth dual-match singles victory of the season in three sets, while Frisch notched the Colonials' other point with a straight-set win at No. 4.
Against the Dukes on Sunday, senior Anastasia Skavronskaia (Miami, FL) won in three sets at the top spot, while Frisch and junior Leah Woodard (Wellesley, MA) each won in three sets at the fourth and sixth positions, respectively. Frisch improved to 3-1 in A-10 dual match singles play and Skavronskaia evened her record at 2-2.
GW (4-8, 1-3 A-10) is back on the courts when it hosts Massachusetts on Saturday, April 8, at 1 p.m. at the Mount Vernon Tennis Facility (weather pending).
