TOWSON, MD - George Washington took the doubles point on their way to a 4-3 victory over Towson University in women's tennis action early Friday afternoon.

The win snapped the Colonials' three-match losing streak and was their first since March 15, at Mesa State.

GW took all three matches in doubles play. The teams of Kendall Swenson/Verena Knoedler, Madhuri Jha/Mara Frisch and Tracy Stecko/Rachael Honig all downed their Towson opponents.

In the singles bracket, GW claimed three points, as No. 1 Kendall Swenson and No. 2 Madhuri Jha cruised in two sets. No. 5 Verena Knoedler won in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.

GW's match against Coppin State, originally scheduled for Saturday, April 7, has been cancelled because of weather. No make-up date has been announced. The Colonials will conclude their 2007 regular season on April 14, at Atlantic 10 Conference opponent Duquesne University.
