Women's Tennis Finish Fourth at 2011 Atlantic 10 Championships
April 10, 2011 CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - The George Washington women's tennis team finish the 2011 season as the fourth-place team in the Atlantic 10 Championship, falling 4-0 to No. 2 seed Temple Sunday at the Boar's Head Sports Club. The Colonials wrap up the season with a 12-7 spring season record, the second consecutive season with a double-digit win total. At No. 2 doubles, Leah Pascarella and Julia Blakeley had a 7-4 lead on their Temple opponents, but the Owls worked faster at the other matches. Temple took the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 matches. The Colonials were unable to gain any ground on the Owls in singles action. Senior co-captain Jennifer Hirsh fell, 6-1, 6-2, to Alicia Dooms at the No. 4 match. GW's Zoe Krohn fell in the No. 6 match to Jordan Batey, 6-2, 6-0, as TU took a 3-0 lead. TU's Elyse Steiner secured the 4-0, victory when she defeated Pascarella, winning 6-4, 6-2, at No. 2 singles.
