WASHINGTON – The George Washington women’s tennis team closed out the regular season with a convincing 6-1 victory over Atlantic 10 foe Saint Joseph’s on Sunday afternoon at the GW Tennis Center on the Mount Vernon Campus.

Seniors Jacqueline Corba, Zoe Krohn and Meg Tyner were honored prior to the match for their four-year careers with the Colonials program.

GW (15-6, 3-3 A-10) opened the match with the doubles point, winning all three flights. The No. 1 pair of junior Mimi Hamling and Krohn downed SJU’s Casey Robinson and Aurora Davis, 8-2. The No. 2 duo of sophomores Isabella Escobar and Leah Pascarella defeated Tara Walsh and Lauren Roy, 8-6, and Corba and Tyner earned an 8-3 decision over Devi Jadeja and Laura Matz in the No. 3 spot.

The Colonials won the Nos. 2 – 6 singles matches in straight sets, while Corba dropped a tough three-set match at the No. 1 spot. Pascarella downed Davis, 6-3, 6-0 at the No. 2 spot, and sophomore Julia Blakeley defeated Jadeja, 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 3 match.

Hamling glided past Matz, 6-1, 6-0 in the fourth-flight, and Escobar earned a 6-3, 6-0 decision over Roy in the No. 5 match. Tyner downed Kelly Mulguin at the No. 6 spot, 6-1, 6-3. Corba fell to Robinson, 0-6, 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 1 match.

GW returns to action at the A-10 Championship on Thursday, April 19, at the Boar’s Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va.
