Women's Tennis Falls to SLU in Opening Round of A-10 Championships

MONROEVILLE, PA - The George Washington University women's tennis team fell to Saint Louis University, 4-0, in the opening match of the 2009 Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship.
GW doubles duo of Verena Knoedler and Zoe Krohn claimed the Colonials' only victory 8-6. SLU took No.1 and 2 doubles matches from the Colonials each at 8-6.
In singles play, sophomore Nadia Demidenko fell to Hailee Elmore 7-6, 6-4 in the No. 1 flight. Flights 2, 3 and 5 were not completed due to time constraints. Zoe Krohn fell to Joe Becker 6-2, 6-3 while Maduri Jha fell at No. 6 to Sarah Septien 6-1, 6-0.
GW will pick up their rackets on Saturday, April 18, at 1:00 p.m. against the winner of the match between losers of the Rhode Island/St. Bonaventure and Charlotte/Saint Joseph's matches.
