Women's Tennis Bounces Bonnies Out of A-10 Tournament, 4-0

BELLEVILLE, IL -- The George Washington women's tennis team advanced to the second round of the 2010 Atlantic 2010 Women's Tennis Championship after defeating St. Bonaventure, 4-0, in a mid-afternoon match at the Kings Point Sports Club. GW will next take on Duquesne at 6:00 p.m. Friday night. The Colonials started quickly, taking the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches. No. 2 duo Jacqueline Corba and Meg Tyner won 8-0 over Kathryn Kvas and Manuela Marin-Salcedo while Jennifer Hirsh and Sasha Gluck defeated Kalia Garia-Rojas and Riley Archer 8-1 at No. 3 doubles. In singles action, Corba defeated Marin-Salcedo 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles to extend her winning streak to five matches. Freshmen Mimi Hamling and Dorota Lysienia both got their first A-10 Championship tournament victories at No. 2 and No. 3 singles to secure the 4-0 win for GW. Hamling defeated Maria Barousse 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles, while Lysienia defeated Kvas 6-1, 7-6 (7-1) at No. 3 singles. Hirsh had a 4-0 lead on Amanda Pallikunnel in the first set at No. 4 singles when GW was declared the winner of the first round match. GW faced Duquesne early in the 2010 season, dropping a 7-0 match on Feb. 14 in Philadelphia, PA. Doubles
