Colonials Fall 4-0 to Spiders in A-10 Women's Tennis Finals

BELLEVILLE, IL -- The GW women's tennis team fell in their eighth overall appearance in the final match of the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship on Sunday to Richmond, 4-0, at the Kings Point Sports Club. GW finished the 2010 season with an 11-11 overall record. In doubles action, the Spiders took a 1-0 lead as the Colonials only won the No. 2 doubles match. Jacqueline Corba and Meg Tyner defeated Kelly Tidwell and Isabel Arana, 8-6, at No. 2 doubles. Mimi Hamling, at No. 2 singles, fell to Tidwell 6-2, 6-1, for the Spiders to take a 2-0 lead. Jennifer Hirsh fell at No. 4 singles 6-3, 6-3, to Sydney Grant while Dorota Lysienia fell to Helen Cunningham at No. 3 singles by the same score, for Richmond to secure the 4-0 Championship victory. The Colonials faced the Spiders earlier in the season, winning a close indoor match at the Montclair Country Club, 4-3, on Feb. 27. Singles
