Hamling and Robins Claim Doubles Title at Georgetown Classic

Competing at the Hoyas’ McDonough Outdoor Tennis Center, Hamling and Robins took care of UMBC’s Isabel Aldunate and Shannon Cleary in the semifinals by an 8-3 score, before rolling to an 8-4 victory over Liz Hamlin and Kelly Comolli of Georgetown to claim the doubles crown. Junior Leah Pascarella earned relatively easy singles victories in the quarterfinals and semifinals to earn a spot in the championship match. In the quarterfinal match, Pascarella downed Longwood’s Malin Allgurin by set scores of 6-3, 6-3, followed by a 6-2, 6-1 defeat of the Lancers’ Marta Pinyol in the semifinals. Pascarella will face GU’s Sophie Panarese in the championship match on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. Senior Dorota Lysienia fell to Nicole Parker of Longwood in the quarterfinal round of singles play, 6-3, 6-4, and junior Isabella Escobar dropped a 6-1, 6-0 match to the Hoyas’ Taylor Perz.
