WASHINGTON – George Washington women’s tennis junior Leah Pascarella claimed the Georgetown Classic singles championship on Sunday morning at the Hoyas' McDonough Outdoor Tennis Center.

In her third straight day of competition, Pascarella topped host Georgetown’s Sophie Panarese by scores of 7-6, 6-1 to earn the singles title.

The Frankfort, Ill., native earned her way to the championship match with three straight victories over GW freshman Egle Jakuciunaite (6-1, 6-2), Longwood’s Malin Allgurin (6-3, 6-3), and the Lancers’ Marta Pinyol (6-2, 6-1). Pascarella joins teammates senior Mimi Hamling and freshman Lana Robins as Georgetown Classic champions, as the duo took home the doubles title on Saturday.

The Colonials take a two-week break before returning to action on Friday, Oct. 12 at Navy’s three-day Blue & Gold Invitational in Annapolis, Md.
