![]() Colonials defeat Georgetown, Howard and George Mason in strong showing |
Oct. 5, 2008
WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington Women's Tennis defeated three opponents and was ahead of a fourth in their very successful showing at the George Mason 3-2 Tournament on Sept. 27-28. The Colonials defeated Georgetown (4-1), Howard (3-2) and George Mason (5-1) and were leading Towson before rain halted the tournament on its final day.
Head Coach Dawn Buth was very pleased with the team's performance. "The team did an outstanding job this weekend," said Buth. "Given the unpredictability of the weather, several last minute format changes, and a multitude of string breaks, I was very impressed with the adaptability that our players demonstrated. We'll play all four of these teams again this spring, so this tournament provided a valuable litmus test for us".
The women's tennis team will now have two weeks off before heading to the ITA Regionals on Friday, Oct. 24 to wrap up their fall season. Saturday, Sept 27 - Day 1 Results:
