Women's Tennis Sweeps Georgetown
Third Victory in a Row Over Cross-town Rival

WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington University's women's tennis team won every match to beat Georgetown, 7-0, on Friday, October 10. Five players for GW picked up singles and doubles victories including senior Nazli Gencsoy (Istanbul, Turkey/Lycee de Galatasaray), who won at number one singles and doubles.
Gencsoy beat the sister of teammate Estee Bartell (Rancho Santa Fe, CA/Torrey Pines) at number one singles, 6-4, 5-7, 7-6, and teamed with junior Natasha Bode (Paradise Valley, AZ/Xavier Prep) to win at number one doubles. Bode added a singles victory in the number three slot, 6-2, 6-1. Senior Lindy First (San Diego, CA/La Jolla) continued her stellar fall season with a victory at number two singles and teamed with Bartell, who was victorious at number five singles, to win at number two doubles. Junior Sevla Gonca (Ankara, Turkey/Bilkent) and freshman Anne Watkins (Naples, FL/Community School of Naples) tallied the other singles victories and Gonca teamed with freshman Mara Frisch (Tucson, AZ/Catalina Foothills) to win at number three doubles.
The Colonials will continue their fall season when they compete at the Old Dominion Tournament starting on Friday, October 17.
