NORFOLK, VA - The George Washington University women's tennis team continued their 2007-2008 fall schedule at the three-day Hampton Roads Invitational, held over the weekend on the campus of Old Dominion in Norfolk, VA.

GW was one of 28 schools to compete in the tournament, along with teams from the CAA, ACC, Big East and the Atlantic 10.

The Colonials sent three players to the B1 Singles Flight, which opened play on Friday. Freshmen Nadia Demidenko (Brooklyn, NY/Poly Prep) and Jennifer Hirsh (Atlanta, GA/Woodward Academy) and senior Kendall Swenson all advanced to the quarterfinals of the flight, including Demidenko's dramatic win in the first round over Longwood's Mason Davis, 6-0, 3-6, 1-0 (4-0). In the quarters, Hirsh fell in two sets and Swenson lost, 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (3-0). Demidenko won her match and then took the final as well, downing Lauren Sabacinski (W&M) 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (13-11).
