ANNAPOLIS, MD - The GW women's tennis team took on Loyola and UMBC in the first day of the Navy Blue and Gold Invitational Friday afternoon at the Tose Family Tennis Center at the Brigade Sports Complex.

In singles action against Loyola, the Colonials looked strong winning all but one position in two sets. Junior Jacqueline Corba won 6-4, 6-2, in her first match of the fall over Loyola's Sabrina Fedele.

Later in the afternoon, GW faced UMBC in three doubles matches. Junior Zoe Krohn and freshman Isabella Escobar won at No. 3 doubles 8-3 for the Colonials on victory against UMBC.

Day two action starts Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at the Tose Family Tennis Center with the Colonials taking on Retrievers in singles. After a short break, GW will take on Navy in doubles.

1. Hamling and Blakeley (GW) lost Jackman and Cragera-cano (UMBC) 8-2
2. Corba and Pascarella (GW) lost Berghams and Mannix (UMBC) 8-4
3. Krohn and Escobar def. Danielsson and Stange-johnsson (GW) 8-3
