Women's Tennis Takes on UMBC, Navy in Day 2 of Navy Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, MD - GW women's tennis started the second day of the Navy Blue and Gold Invitational Saturday afternoon at the Tose Family Tennis Center with singles matches against UMBC, followed by doubles matches against Navy. The Colonials split victories with the Retrievers in singles in the morning match-up. Jacqueline Corba took No. 1 singles 6-2, 5-7,1-0 (6) Carmen Jackman. Leah Pascarella won at No. 4 in three tough sets, 6-7 (3), 6-3, 1-0 (6), while Jennifer Hirsh wrapped up No. 6 singles in two sets, 7-5, 6-2. In doubles action against Navy, GW's Mimi Hamling and Julia Blakely dropped No. 1 doubles 8-5, but the squad bounced back to take doubles No. 2-4. Corba and Pascarella won 8-0 at No. 2 doubles, as Zoe Krohn and Isabella Escobar won 8-6 at the No. 3 match up. Meg Tyner and Hirsh teamed up at No. 4 doubles to win 8-5. GW will take on Navy in doubles at 9:00 a.m. to start the final day of the Navy Blue and Gold Invitational. The Colonials will take on Loyola in doubles to wrap up the day at 12:00 p.m. Results-
