Blakeley Earns Back-To-Back Singles Victories to Advance at ITA Atlantic Regional

In her first match of the day, Blakeley pulled out a 6-7 (4), 6-4, 7-5 upset win over top-ranked Hansbrough in a match that lasted a noteworthy three and a half hours. In the second round of qualifying action Blakeley took care of Calderon, 3-6, 7-5, 6-2, in another three-hour match to advance to the main singles draw on Saturday. “Julia had two outstanding performances today,” said head coach Dawn Buth. “She beat out the No. 1 seed, then turned around and beat another terrific player.” In doubles play, Hamling and Krohn defeated West Virginia’s Ikttesh Chahal and Emily Mathis, 8-5, to move on to the second round of the main doubles draw.
