Women's Tennis Concludes Play at Wilson/ITA East Regionals

Oct. 24, 2005

WEST POINT, NY - George Washington University senior Anastasia Skavronskaia (Miami, FL), and sophomores Kendall Swenson (Shaker Heights, OH) and Tracy Stecko (Lake Forest, IL) were in action this past weekend, Oct. 21-23, representing GW at the 2005 Wilson/ITA East Regional Championship, hosted by Army at its Lichtenberg Tennis Center.

Skavronskaia was the lone Colonial competing in the main singles draw. Following a first round bye, Skavronskaia opened against Syracuse's Victoria Vaynberg in the Round of 64, but fell 6-1, 6-1 to bow out.

Swenson and Stecko teamed together in doubles play, but also fell in their opening match. The team of Marlene Hall and Nena Suda from Columbia downed Swenson and Stecko, 8-6, to move on.

The ITA East Regionals marks the Colonials final Fall tournament and they do not return to the courts until their Spring season opener at Old Dominion on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 1 p.m. in Norfolk, VA.
