Women's Tennis Aims to Extend Hot Start

SERVING FIRST: The George Washington women’s tennis team continues its season-opening home stretch this Saturday when Delaware visits the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center (STLC) for a 2 p.m. matchup.

LAST TIME OUT: The Colonials (1-0) are coming off a season-opening victory, defeating 2017 Ivy League Champions Harvard, 4-3, on Saturday. Junior Sara Grubac enters the second week of competition as the reigning Atlantic 10 Player and Colonial of the Week after securing the match sealing triumph in singles action over a ranked opponent. The Buff and Blue also dominated in doubles play, taking two impressive wins from the Crimson to open the 2018 season.

ABOUT DELAWARE: The Blue Hens completed their fall season with a winning record of 8-6 at the ITA Atlantic Regional in October. Saturday’s contest will mark the first match for Delaware in 2018.

SERIES HISTORY: A year ago, the Colonials claimed a 5-2 victory on the road vs. the Blue Hens, as then-freshman Melis Bayraktaroglu battled to a three-set win to clinch the match for GW.
