Feb. 7, 2005

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington University freshman Kendall Swenson (Shaker Heights, OH) was named the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week for her performance in GW's victory over Howard last week, the conference office announced on Monday, Feb. 7.

Swenson, playing at No. 1 singles, improved to 2-0 on the season with a 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-1) win over Howard's Kristin Harris to help GW knock off the Bison, 6-1, on Friday, Feb. 4, for its first victory of the spring campaign. In addition to her stellar singles play, Swenson also teamed with senior Natasha Bode (Paradise Valley, AZ) at No. 2 doubles and the pair topped Laura Marin and Aja Wright, 8-5, to even their record at 1-1 in dual-match play.

The Colonials (1-1) return to action when they travel across town to face Georgetown on Sunday, Feb. 13, at 11:00 a.m.
