WASHINGTON, DC -- George Washington women's tennis freshman Julia Blakeley was named the first Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie Performer of the Week for the 2011 season, the league announced on Monday.

Blakeley has stepped into the No. 2 singles action for the 3-1 Colonials this spring, winning all of her matches against Drexel, Penn, George Mason and Howard.

The Irvine, CA, native won at No. 3 doubles with fellow freshman Leah Pascarella against Howard on Sunday, outlasting their opponents, 9-8 (7-5). Blakeley carried the momentum into her singles match, winning in three sets, 6-2, 5-7, 6-4.

Blakeley and the Colonials will next take on Atlantic 10 foe Temple on Sunday, Feb. 13, at 12:00 p.m. at the Arthur Ashe Tennis Center, in Philadelphia.
