NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Following an undefeated weekend of action, George Washington senior Mimi Hamling was named the Atlantic 10 Women’s Tennis Performer of the Week on Monday.

It marks the first Performer of the Week award for Hamling, who was tabbed the league’s Rookie Performer of the Week three times during her freshman campaign in 2009-10.

The San Diego, Calif., native went undefeated in both singles and doubles play as she helped GW to a 1-1 weekend. In the Colonials’ 4-3 loss at district rival Georgetown on Saturday, Hamling posted a three-set victory over the Hoyas’ Madeline Jaeger in the No. 3 singles position by scores of 7-5, 1-6, 6-1.

On Sunday, Hamling held both of her opponents scoreless as GW swept George Mason, 7-0. She first teamed up with junior Leah Pascarella at No. 2 doubles to down GMU’s Ashley Delaney and Maya Hicks, 8-0. Hamling capped her perfect outing at the No. 4 singles spot as she blanked the Patriots’ Kiersten Pappas, 6-0, 6-0.

Hamling and the Colonials open A-10 play in Pittsburgh, Pa., this weekend. GW first faces Saint Joseph’s on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 3 p.m., followed by an 11 a.m. match with Duquesne on Sunday, Feb. 17.
