Women’s Tennis Hosts Radford on Saturday

SERVING FIRST: The George Washington women’s tennis team will look to regain its early-season glory on Saturday when it hosts Radford at 2 p.m. at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center (STLC).

LAST TIME OUT: The Colonials dropped their pair of weekend matches. GW was first edged by Long Beach State, 4-3, on Friday before falling to Maryland, 6-1, on Sunday. Freshman Julia Herlogsson finished the weekend undefeated in singles play. The Gothenburg, Sweden, native leads the team with a 6-1 singles mark on the season.

DOUBLE TROUBLE: The women’s tennis squad has dominated in doubles play so far in 2018 and has clinched the doubles point in five out of seven matches. The No. 1 pair of junior Maria Siopacha and sophomore Melis Bayraktaroglu leads the pack with three victories.

ABOUT RADFORD: The Highlanders split their weekend matches, defeating West Virginia State, 6-1, on Thursday before falling to Virginia Tech, 7-0, on Saturday. Radford will visit George Mason on Friday before traveling to STLC the next day to take on the Buff and Blue.

SERIES HISTORY: The Colonials will meet the Highlanders for the first time in program history on Saturday.
