WASHINGTON, DC - Sophomore Tracy Wei (Marietta, GA/Walton Comprehensive) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Tennis Performer of the Week, the league office has announced.
Wei defeated Fordham's Xer Li Woo, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 2 singles and she defeated Toledo's Whitney Wasielewski, 6-2, 6-3, and Army's Marissa Limsiaco 4-6, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 3 singles.
In doubles competition, she teamed with sophomore Lindy First to post a 2-1 record for the week at No. 1 doubles. Along with First, she defeated the team of Dragan/Leavenworth (Fordham), 8-0 and the team of Ribero/Rivero (Toledo), 9-7, but lost to the the team of Collier/Rohr (Army), 9-7.
Wei improved her singles record to 8-4 on the season (2-2 at No. 2, 6-2 at No. 3) as GW won all three matches last week. Wei has a career singles record of 31-20. The doubles team of Wei/First has a 6-6 record this season at No. 1 doubles. Wei is undefeated in her last four outings in singles play. GW has won its last four straight matches.
The Colonials next play at George Mason on Thursday, Mar. 28, at Fairfax, VA. That match begins at 2:30 p.m.
