NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – George Washington women’s tennis senior Leah Pascarella was named the Atlantic 10 Women’s Tennis Performer of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Pascarella picks up her first weekly league nod of the season and the third of her career as she was tabbed Co-Performer of the Week on Feb. 27, 2013, and Performer of the Week on Jan. 30, 2012. She is the fourth Colonials player to nab an A-10 weekly honor this season.

The Frankfort, Ill., product was instrumental in helping GW (4-4) to its first outdoor home victory with a 4-3 decision over Atlantic Region foe Towson last Tuesday as she went unbeaten at No. 1 singles and No. 3 doubles and limited her opponents to just three games combined. Pascarella first teamed up with sophomore Stephanie Wei for a dominating 8-1 victory over the Tigers’ Ayana Dow and Cailey Easdale to help the Colonials secure the doubles point. She then rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 top-flight victory over Nani Lizana for one of GW’s three singles wins.

Pascarella owns a team-best overall singles record of 13-6 and is 7-1 on the spring season, and she is currently riding a five-match win streak. She and Wei are 4-2 overall, including an unbeaten 3-0 mark in dual match play.

Pascarella and GW return to action this weekend with two matches in as many days. The Colonials first travel to Richmond, Va., on Saturday, March 22, for an 11 a.m. match at VCU, then head to Harrisonburg, Va., on Sunday for an 11 a.m. match at James Madison.
