WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington University senior Anastasia Skavronskaia (Miami, FL/Ransom Everglades) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. Skavronskaia went 2-0 at first singles and 2-0 at first doubles to help the Colonials record consecutive victories over Temple and James Madison last week.

On Friday, March 24, in the Colonials' 5-2 win over Temple, Skavronskaia posted a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles against Yuri Kurashima, last week's A-10 Player of the Week, as well as an 8-5 doubles win at No. 1.

The next day in a 4-3 win over James Madison, Skavronskaia took a 6-4, 6-1 decision at No. 1 against Kristin Nordstrom and teamed together once again with classmate Sandra Simunic (Westerville, OH) at No. 1 doubles for an 8-5 win.

Skavronskaia is the first Colonial to earn A-10 Women's Tennis Player of the Week honors this season. Last year as a junior, Skavronskaia was one of 12 athletes in the conference to earn All-A-10 accolades.

The Colonials (4-6, 1-1) are back on the court when they face Xavier on Saturday, April 1 at 5 p.m. in Pittsburgh, PA, at Duquesne. GW turns around and faces the Dukes the very next day at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
