Tracy Stecko Earns A-10 Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week Honors

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington University freshman Tracy Stecko (Lake Forest, IL/Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart) was named the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week for her stellar play this past weekend, the league office announced on Monday, April 4. Stecko is the second GW freshman (Kendall Swenson) to earn conference rookie of the week accolades this season.

On Friday, April 1, in the Colonials' match against Richmond, Stecko knocked off Jelena Zivanovic in three sets, 6-1, 3-6, 6-2, before defeating Duquesne's Alicia McNamara, 6-2, 6-0 on Saturday to help lead the Colonials to a 6-1 triumph over the Dukes and their first conference win of the season. With the pair of victories, Stecko improved her dual-match singles record to 5-4 on the year.

GW (3-7, 1-3 A-10) returns to action when it hosts American on Thursday, April 7, at 2:30 p.m. at the Montclair Country Club in Monclair, VA.
