WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington (7-10, 0-3 A-10) has been awarded the No. 10 seed in the 2008 Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship, set to begin Friday, April 18, at the Club 4 Life in Monroeville, PA, the league announced today.

GW will open their tournament play at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, April 18, and will face off against No. 7 Charlotte. The Colonials and 49ers did not meet during the regular season. If GW pulls off the upset and advances, they would face No. 2 Temple.

In last year's tournament, GW, the eighth-seed, lost to Rhode Island in the opening round, but then rebounded with wins against Saint Joseph's and Fordham and finished ninth.

The Women's Tennis Committee selected the tournament's seeding early Monday afternoon, taking into consideration head-to-head competition and significant wins, among other qualifiers.
