Women's Tennis Seeded Eighth for A-10 Championship

April 14, 2009

2009 Women's Tennis A-10 Championship Bracket

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The George Washington women's tennis team will be the eighth seed in the 14-team A-10 Championship, April 17-19, at Monroeville, PA, the league office announced Tuesday. The Colonials will face ninth-seeded Saint Louis at 8:00 a.m. on Friday April 17, at the Club 4 Life tennis facility near Pittsburgh.

If the Colonials (6-9) can get past the Billikens, they would next face top-seeded and five-time A-10 Champion Richmond at 3:30 p.m. Friday. The teams met earlier this season on Feb. 28, at the Montclair Country Club, where Richmond swept GW, 7-0.

GW has not faced Saint Louis this season.

The Colonials are led by freshman Jacqui Corba, who went 11-4 in singles play, and sophomore Nadia Demidenko, who finished the season at 10-5. The pair joined forces to post a 7-7 record in doubles play.

GW has won the A-10 Women's Tennis title three times (1984, 1992, 1993).
