Women's Tennis To Compete in the 21st Annual Atlantic 10 Championships

WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington Women's Tennis team will participate in the 21st Annual Atlantic 10 Championships to be held from April 17-19 at the Tennis Center at College Park in College Park, MD. The Colonials have been plagued by injury this year and are just now starting to get their full compliment of players.

Despite their 4-10 record, the Colonials are looking to make a move in the tournament. GW is led by junior Nazli Gencsoy (Istanbul, Turkey/Lyree de Galatasaray) and freshman Estee Bartell (San Diego, CA/Torrey Pines), who eached tallied 10 wins during the season. Sophomore Sevla Gonca (Ankara, Turkey/Bilkent) has played better of late and senior Tracy Wei (Marietta, GA/Walton Comprehensive) will need to step up her game in what will be her final Atlantic 10 Championship.

The Colonials will also look to senior Samantha Fisher (Greenwich, CT/The Benjamin School) for experience. Fisher has tallied six victories this season playing mostly at number five singles.

The bracket will be determined after a league meeting this evening at 7:00 p.m. and play will begin on Thursday, April 17 at 8:00 a.m.
