Demidenko, Corba Named to A-10 Conference Teams

April 30, 2009

PHILADELPHIA, PA-- George Washington University sophomore Nadia Demidenko (Brooklyn, NY/Poly Prep) and freshman Jacqui Corba (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) were voted to first and second Atlantic 10 All-Conference teams, respectfully, announced by the Conference Thursday. The teams were selected by a vote of the A-10 women's tennis coaches after the conclusion of the 2009 Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship.

Demidenko, with a 30-13 career record, completed the 2009 spring season 11-6 in the No. 1 singles position for the Colonials. Demidenko won four consecutive matches from Mar. 10-22, claiming victories against opponents from Coppin State, Emory, Xavier and Delaware.

As a freshman, Demidenko was named to the All-Conference second team.

Corba had a solid freshman season for the Colonials, posting a 12-5 record at No. 2 singles. She also had a four-match winning streak from Mar. 10-22.

Demidenko and Corba combined to post an 8-8 record at No. 1 doubles.

The Colonials (7-10) ended the season with a win over Saint Joseph's at the 2009 Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship, finishing in a ninth-place tie with Dayton.
