Kendall Swenson Named to A-10 Women's Tennis All-Conference Second Team

May 1, 2007

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington junior Kendall Swenson (Shaker Heights, OH/Laurel) has been named to the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis All-Conference second team in voting conducted by the Conference's head coaches, the league announced on Tuesday.

Playing from the No. 1 singles, Swenson helped lead the Colonials to a ninth-place finish at the 2007 Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship in Monroeville, PA. In the tournament, Swenson went 2-1, defeating Rhode Island's Lara Maurer, named All-Conference, and Saint Joseph's Stephania Velazquez, a fellow All-Conference second team member. The junior completed the 2006-07 season with a 17-6 overall record.

Swenson's 17 wins were the most since Tracy Lei had 19 in 2000.

In the same voting, Richmond's Pamela Duran was named the Conference's Most Outstanding Performer. Ana Spivakovsky of Charlotte was named Most Outstanding Rookie Performer and Richmond head coach Mark Wesselink was selected as Coach of the Year for the fourth consecutive time. Massachusetts' Michele Spiess was selected as the league's Student-Athlete of the Year in separate voting conducted by the sports information directors.
