Nadia Demidenko Named to A-10 Women's Tennis All-Conference Second-Team

May 1, 2008

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington freshman Nadia Demidenko (Brooklyn, NY/Poly Prep) has been named to the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis All-Conference second-team in voting conducted by the Conference's head coaches, the league announced Wednesday.

Demidenko, a freshman, led the Colonials with a 19-5 overall record in singles play this season. She was 7-2 playing from the No. 1 position, and 4-1 in the No. 2 flight. At the 2008 A-10 Championships, Demidenko won both of her matches at No. 1 singles, including a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Dayton's Allysa Detroy.

Demidenko was named the Colonial of the Week on Apr. 14 after she helped to lead GW to a pair of non-conference wins.

In the same voting, Temple's Dina Senkina was named the A-10 women's tennis Most Outstanding Performer and Zena Williams of Duquesne was tabbed as the Most Outstanding Rookie Performer. Temple's Jill Breslin was awarded the Coach of the year. Dayton's Allysa Detroy was selected as the Student-Athlete of the Year in a separate vote of the Conference's sports information directors.
