WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington University senior Anastasia Skavronskaia (Miami, FL) was selected to the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis All-Conference team for the second straight year, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday in a vote conducted by the league's head coaches. Skavronskaia played at both No. 1 singles and doubles this past season for the Colonials, in helping the squad to a seventh-place finish at the A-10 Championship, April 21-23, and seven victories overall during the spring.
Playing at No. 1 singles, Skavronskaia posted six victories in dual-match play, with two of those wins coming against A-10 opponents. She was even more impressive teaming with classmate Sandra Simunic (Westerville, OH) at No. 1 doubles throughout the spring campaign, as the pair recorded an 8-4 record in dual matches, including a 2-0 mark against conference foes.
At this year's conference championship, Skavronskaia went 1-1 at No. 1 singles and 2-2 at No. 1 doubles. She finishes her career with an all-time mark of 7-1 in singles action at the championship.
In addition, Skavronskaia is the first Colonial since Tracy Wei to earn back-to-back all-conference honors. Wei was named all-conference all four years of her career at GW, 2000-03.
