Aug. 26, 2003

WASHINGTON, DC - Megan Wise has been named head coach for both women's tennis and women's squash at The George Washington University, Senior Associate Director of Athletics Mary Jo Warner has announced. Wise replaces Helen Andrews (tennis) and Sarah West (squash) who resigned to pursue other interests.

Wise will handle all aspects of the women's tennis program and will lead the women's squash program into its second year of competition. She joins the Colonials after serving as the assistant coach for men's and women's tennis at the University of Connecticut where she handled all day-to-day activities for the two programs.

Prior to her assistant position at Connecticut, Wise was the head women's tennis coach at DeSales High School and worked as a tennis instructor at the Wickertree Tennis Club in Columbus, OH.

As a 2000 graduate of the University of Illinois, Wise was a three-year player for the Fighting Illini after playing one season at the University of Mississippi and was named captain and team MVP in 2000.
