Women's Tennis Opens Fall Season on Friday

SERVING FIRST: The George Washington women's tennis squad opens fall play over the weekend at the Bedford Mid-Atlantic Cup in College Park, Maryland, beginning on Friday.

COLONIALS' COMPETITION: The Colonials are set to compete against a field of eight other schools this weekend, including A-10 foe VCU, local rival Georgetown, James Madison, Virginia Tech, Delaware, Towson, and Maryland.

SET FOR SINGLES: Six Colonials will compete at the fall-opening tournament: seniors Kamilla Beisenova and Marie-Louise Decamps, juniors Victoria Kogan and Maria Siopacha, sophomore Diana Kussainova, and freshman Julia Herlogsson. Kussainova will serve as the tournament's second seeded player while Siopacha will play as the No. 3 seed.

SEEING DOUBLE: Doubles pairs for the weekend will be Kussainova and Siopacha, Beisenova and Herlogsson, and Kogan and Decamps.

FORMAT: The tournament will follow a compass draw format, featuring singles draw of 54 players and a doubles draw of 26. Competition will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday morning. The first day of play will include two rounds of main draw singles and one round of doubles action. Singles and doubles finals will be played on Monday.
