Siopacha Advances in Bedford Cup for Women’s Tennis

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Junior Maria Siopacha advanced to the singles semifinal round on day two of GW women’s tennis’ fall-opening Mid-Atlantic Bedford Cup at the Junior Tennis Champions Center.

The fourth-seeded Siopacha defeated Sarah Baron of Virginia Tech in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2, to stay alive in the main singles draw and advance to Sunday’s semifinal. The junior will take on fifth-seeded Brooke Pikington from the University of Delaware on Sunday for a chance to advance to the final round.

Singles and doubles consolation play will also continue on Sunday.
