GW Head Coach to be Inducted into UF Athletic Hall of Fame
Sept. 24, 2010
WASHINGTON, DC- Dawn Buth, GW women's head tennis coach, is a 2011 University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame inductee, the University of Florida F Club and Gators Boosters, Inc., announced earlier this week. Buth and seven other UF greats will be inducted into the UF Athletic Hall of Fame on April 8, 2011. "She was the best student-athlete any coach could ever want," said Andy Brandi, her coach at UF. "She was outstanding on the court, outstanding in her academics, and an outstanding citizen in the Gainesville area." While at UF, Buth was a member of the 1996 and 1998 NCAA Championship Teams and won the deciding point over Duke on Notre Dame's campus for the win in 1998. She also won the 1996 and 1997 NCAA Doubles Championship with teammate Stephanie Nickitas. A seven-time All-American, she still ranks in the top five in the Florida record books for career UF singles wins, single-season singles wins, doubles wins and career doubles win percentage. "I have a lot of fun memories of watching Dawn play at Florida," said Brandi. "She gave it her all because she loved to do it, not because she had to do it." In her four-year career at Florida, Buth posted a 112-4 dual record, including four Southeastern Conference regular season titles and four SEC Tournament titles. Buth, 2010 Altantic 10 Conference Coach of the Year, enters her seventh season at the helm of the GW women's tennis program.
