COLLEGE PARK, MD -- Freshman Estee Bartell (San Diego, CA/Torrey Pines) staged an impressive comeback en route to winning the back draw of Flight C at the Maryland Invitational. First, she rallied from a 1-4 deficit in the second set of her match against Raynie Theis of West Virginia to win 6-4, then escaped from an 0-3 hole in the third to complete the comeback and win the match 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Speaking on Bartell's play, GW Coach Helen Andrews stated, "That was one impressive comeback. She got down, but didn't give up. She showed a lot of maturity in that match."

The team gained some more valuable experience by playing against some of the tougher teams on the East Coast. In total, the Colonials won eight singles matches and four doubles matches. Next up, GW will face Georgetown on Saturday, October 19 at the Mount Vernon Athletic Complex.
