Women’s Tennis Opens Play at ITA Regionals

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The George Washington women’s tennis squad opened play at the ITA Atlantic Region Championships at Virginia Tech’s Tennis Center on Friday.

Senior Marie-Louise Decamps fell in her singles qualifying match to Katsiaryna Yemelyaneka from the University of Maryland, 7-5, 6-1, before defeating Navy’s Ansofi Wreder, 6-0, 6-2, in a consolation round.

In doubles action, the duo of Siopacha and freshman Julia Herlogsson bowed out of ITA Regional play when Adriana Rajkovic and Louie McLelland from Old Dominion University came up on top, 8-5.

Junior Maria Siopacha will hit the court for main draw singles play on Saturday morning.

32 - Katsiaryna Yemelyaneka (UM) def. Marie-Louise Decamps 7-5, 6-1
C – Marie-Louise Decamps def. Ansofi Wreder (Navy) 6-0, 6-2

Doubles
64 - Rajkovic/McLelland (ODU) def. Siopacha/Herlogsson 8-5
