Wei and Gencsoy Compete at Omni Hotel Regional Tournament

Wei Plays Singles, Gencsoy Joins Her For Doubles

Oct. 28, 2002

CAMBRIDGE, MA - Senior Tracy Wei (Marietta, GA/Walton Comprehensive) and junior Nazli Gencsoy (Istanbul, Turkey/Lyree de Galatasaray) represented GW at the Omni Hotel Regional Tournament at Harvard on Oct. 25-28. Wei reached the second round before losing to 25th seed Kristen James of Virginia. She, then, joined Gencsoy to reach the second round in doubles play before losing to the three seeds from Marshall. Fortunately, they were able to secure a first round win against a Connecticut team they will face in the spring.

The GW Women's Tennis team will return to action on January 19, 2003 against William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA.

Wei (GW) def. Parra (Fairleigh Dickinson), 7-6(6), 6-2
James (UVA) def. Wei (GW), 6-1, 6-0

Doubles:
Wei/Gencsoy (GW) def. Russell/Schumsky (Connecticut), 8-3
Johnson/Sukner (Marshall) def. Wei/Gencsoy (GW), 8-3
