Doug English is in his second year at George Washington. English works with the outside hitters, passers and liberos. He also is responsible for team defense, scouting, match preparation, special events and act as camp director in addition to his duties as recruiting coordinator.

He came to GW after spending three years as an assistant coach for the Boise State University volleyball program. Prior to that, English was an assistant coach at Fordham and at Loyola Marymount University. No stranger to A-10 volleyball, he helped guide Fordham to a 19-14 mark in 2005, its first winning record since the 1990 season. He also assisted with recruiting, opponent scouting, tape exchange and on-court coaching working primarily with the outside hitters and liberos. At Boise State, he was the recruiting coordinator and assisted with opponent scouting, tape exchange and on-court training.

A 2004 graduate of Cal State Northridge with a bachelor's degree in mathematics, English was a four-year starting libero on the Matadors men's volleyball team. He was named a 2003 AVCA First Team All-American as well as being a First Team All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) selection. He also was selected that year for the World University Games training team. In 2004, he wrapped up his collegiate career as the school's career, season and single-match leader in digs and was named the 2004 Cal State Northridge Scholar Athlete of the Year. Academically, he was named to the MPSF All-Academic Team all four years. A native of La Crescenta, CA, he resides in Alexandria, VA.
