Russ Friedland is in his second year with GW after serving as a second assistant coach in 2009. Friedland maintains non-NCAA statistics, coordinates video exchange and assists with special events and camps.

He came to GW after spending 2008 coaching the Metro American Volleyball Club team in Washington, DC. Friedland also served as head coach at Daniel Webster College in New Hampshire in 2007-08 and as a volunteer assistant coach at American University in 2008.

A 2005 graduate of Endicott College, he was a middle hitter/setter for the Gulls and has eight years of club coaching experience. He also is VCAP and IMPACT certified. A native of Mansfield, CT, Friedland and his wife, Megan, reside in Arlington, VA.
