Volleyball Takes Liberty, 3-1, at GW Invitational

Final Stats

WASHINGTON, DC - Junior Ruth Lazzari (Seal Beach, CA/Connelly) hit .294 with a team-high 14 kills to lead GW past Liberty, 30-26, 30-19, 24-30, 30-12, in a one-hour, 44-minute match Friday night in the GW Invitational at Smith Center. It marked GW's fourth straight victory.

Junior Sarah Hokom (Caldwell, ID/Caldwell) narrowly missed a double-double with nine kills and a team-high 18 digs. Freshman Lindsey Vernand (Huntington Beach,CA/Huntington) and junior co-captain Lauren Dunning (Stockton, CA/St. Mary's) contributed 14 digs each.

Liberty (1-4) was led by Erin McKeown's 16 kills and Jennifer Belk's 22 digs.

The two-day GW Invitational continues Saturday at Smith Center. The Colonials play Morgan State at 11:00 a.m. and Rutgers at 5:00 p.m.
