STOCKTON, CA (Sept. 8) - The GW volleyball team fell to 0-6 on the season after losing to Connecticut, 27-30, 12-30, 24-30, in the Pacific Nike Invitational at Stockton, CA. Freshman middle blocker Britta Stroman (Richfield, MN) led the Colonials attack with 12 kills and a pair of block solos.

Sophomore Laura Harrison (West Hills, CA) added nine kills and a team-high 11 digs while sophomore setter Lauren Dunning (Stockton, CA) assisted on 26 kills. Sophomore Lindsay Ochs (Portland, OR) hit .500 with nine kills in 16 attempts with just one error and three block assists.

GW (0-6) hit .141 as a team with 47 digs and four service aces in the one-hour, 10-minute match. The Colonials had 41 kills in 128 attacks but committed 23 errors.

Connecticut (6-1) was led by Laura Wolley and Jamie Hadenfeldt with 13 kills apiece. The Huskies posted 12 block assists and eight service aces. UConn hit .325 with 54 kills and 58 digs.

The Colonials return to Smith Center for their home opener Friday, Sept. 14, when they host Villanova at 7:00 p.m. in the four-team GW Invitational. The Villanova match is the first of four home matches for GW which also plays American and Princeton Sept. 15. The Colonials open defense of their Atlantic 10 Conference title when they host La Salle Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Smith Center.
