Teammate Ruth Lazzari (Seal Beach, CA/Connelly) added eight kills and a match-high 19 digs. Freshman Lindsey Vernand (Huntington Beach, CA/Huntington) flirted with a double-double with nine kills and nine digs while hitting .353.
The Colonials defense made the difference with 62 digs and 8.5 total blocks compared to 44 digs and three blocks for the Retrievers. GW also earned 10 points on service aces with three each by Lauren Dunning (Stockton, CA/St. Mary's) and Molly Law (Denver, CO/Mullen).
