GW Volleyball Falls at Butler, 3-0
Colonials Visit Saint Louis on Saturday Night

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The George Washington volleyball team returned to action on Friday evening with its first road Atlantic 10 Conference match of the season, falling to host Butler, 3-0, at Hinkle Field House. Set scores were 16-25, 22-25, 24-26.
GW (4-12, 1-2 A-10) concludes its Midwest road trip with a visit to Saint Louis on Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m. ET.
The Colonials struggled in the opening frame, swinging just .026 with nine attack errors as Butler (10-6, 1-2 A-10) assumed control of the match with a 25-16 victory.
The second set was the closest of the evening as the two teams battled through 12 ties and five lead changes before Butler prevailed with a 25-22 victory. The Colonials held a slim 6-4 lead early in the set, but Butler battled back to take a 10-9 lead. The teams remained within three points of each other before the Bulldogs were able to pull away with a late 5-2 run after being tied at 20-20.
In the third set, the Colonials trailed 15-10, but used a 13-7 run to pull even at 23-23 following a kill from junior Jamie Armstrong. However, Butler closed on a 3-1 run to clinch the set, 26-24.
Armstrong finished with 10 kills against just two errors for a .381 attack percentage. She added three blocks (one solo, two assisted) and two digs. Senior Lauren Whyte also finished with double-digit kills as she added 11 kills to go with eight digs and one assist.
For the match, the Colonials hit .115 (37k-23e-122a) while the Bulldogs swung .244 (43k-12e-127a).
The Colonials return to action on Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m. ET against Saint Louis at Chaifetz Pavillion. The Billikens lead the all-time series against GW by a 9-3 margin.
