McLaughlin Hits .371 With 19 Kills to Propel Colonials

WASHINGTON, DC -- The George Washington volleyball team evened its Atlantic 10 Conference record at 1-1 after downing visiting La Salle , 30-24, 30-28, 30-23 Friday night at Smith Center. The Explorers fell to 7-10, 0-1 in the A-10.
GW sophomore Juliene McLaughlin (Lindsay, Ontario) contributed a match-high 19 kills and a career-high seven service aces to power the Colonials to their fourth victory of the season, all at home.
Sophomore setter Kaimana Lee (Wailuku, HI) assisted on 36 of GW's 51 kills and added six digs. The Colonials hit .246 with 51 kills compared to .147 for La Salle (39-20-129) and had an 8-1 advantage in service aces.
La Salle's Samantha Takacs led the Explorers with 14 kills while teammate Caitlin Dejong added 15 digs. LU's Amanda Woods contributed 11 digs.
GW (3-8, 0-1 A-10) hosts Temple Saturday in an Atlantic 10 Conference match beginning at 4 p.m. at Smith Center.
