WASHINGTON, DC -- The George Washington volleyball team had little trouble disposing of crosstown rival Howard, 3-0, Tuesday night at HU's Greene Stadium. GW won by scores of 30-18, 30-18 and 30-16 to improve to 7-10 overall while the Lady Bison fell to 2-11 on the year.

All 16 Colonials on the roster appeared in the one-hour, 18-minute match with 11 recording at least one kill. Senior Lindsey Vernand led the Colonials with 10 kills in 15 attacks while hitting .533.

After breezing to victory in game one, the teams played close and were tied at 9-9 before the Colonials went on a 16-5 run for a 25-14 lead and coasted the rest of the way.

GW benefited from no less than 36 Bison errors including 25 attack errors while the Colonials kept their miscues to a manageable 19 total errors.

The Colonials combined to hit .302 with 48 kills, 30 of which were set up by Kaimana Lee. Howard hit just .063 (32-25-111) as a team with 29 total assists.

The Bison's Morgan Maxwell led Howard with eight kills and Jenica Leonard led all players with 14 digs.

The victory marked GW's 12th straight over Howard. The Colonials' last loss to the Bison came nearly 28 years ago during the 1977 season.

GW (7-10, 1-3 A-10) gets back to Atlantic 10 Conference action Friday when it hosts Saint Louis in a 7:00 p.m. match at Charles E. Smith Athletic Center followed by Duquesne on Sunday at noon. Saint Louis and Charlotte are the newest members of the Atlantic 10.
